Deansgate Labour Your voice in Manchester City Centre
We are putting £2.3 million investment in street cleaning to good use, and the Council has secured £5 million more for cleaning and greening projects. This cash means more cleaning and stronger enforcement to keep our streets looking their best.
We are seeing benefits now. We use our local funds to support cleaning and greening by community groups, like new planters on Hulme Street. More improvements for Mirabel Street and the Cambridge Street underpass are planned. In Castlefield, a Landowners’ Forum is seeking to improve maintenance and accelerate graffiti removal. While new pocket parks at Potato Wharf and greening on Deansgate are progressing.
More enforcement is making a difference too, like the recent arrest of the ‘HOWARD’ graffiti culprit and more action to stop littering.
Cllr Marcus Johns said: “We promised cleaner, greener streets. With new investment by Labour, we’re turning a corner after 14 years of Tory and Lib Dem cuts. With your help—reporting litter hotspots and joining local groups —we can go even further.”
