We are committed to a greener city centre—and we have been delivering. A number of new exciting green spaces opened recently. More are on the way.

Mayfield Park opened in September, bringing 6.5 acres of green space, 142 trees and a large play area next to Piccadilly Train Station. While over in Castlefield, we supported the National Trust in the opening of Castlefield viaduct, using historical industrial infrastructure to create a new green space.

Another new park is being built off Great Jackson Street by Castlefield, right next to our new city centre primary school, and more are planned in Victoria North, near Victoria train station. Meanwhile, investment is being made in parks and green spaces like Angel Meadow, St John’s Gardens, Parsonage Gardens, and significant contributions have been made to the Castlefield Forum’s Roman Gardens project.

The creation of these new green spaces not only benefits you as a local resident—having more access to green space, but it also supports Manchester Labour’s ambition for Manchester to be a net zero carbon city.
